For the record. 5 stars isn't good enough to truly express how satisfied we are going with Mattie's. I originally planned to leave a brief review just for the stellar, above-and-beyond tree service, but my review strategy has shifted dramatically. The service was flawless, but what truly blew me away was the character of the man doing the work. The recent storm in Darlington cracked our gigantic tree in half, leaving it resting precariously against another tree. By the grace of God, the second tree was strong enough to hold it, but this was an incredibly stressful situation that we had never faced before. We had no idea how this tree could be cut down safely without it falling onto our house. Out of all the companies we frantically contacted for this emergency, Ryan from Mattie's LLC was the only one willing to show up quickly to help us. Honestly, he made us calm the very moment he arrived. He was so kind and reassuring that I nearly forgot about the tree crisis entirely; it felt like we were talking with a close friend rather than it being a business transaction. He quickly analyzed the dangerous situation and immediately got to work. The price he quoted us? Extremely fair. If anything, I felt like he was undercharging us. The price for dropping the tree safely AND cleaning it all up, combined, was significantly less than what every other company wanted JUST for dropping the tree. Most other companies really tried to take advantage of our desperation. No joke. A few others wanted roughly 4x what Mattie's deemed fair. Ryan is a very busy fella, and we quickly found out why. He was beyond professional, but what really amazed me was his integrity during and at the end of the job. I offered him a tip for saving the day, and he actually refused it, humbly stating that helping people in their time of need was reward enough for him. The character of this man is beyond anything I could've imagined. I'm absolutely blown away at how professional, skilled, and honest Ryan is. If you ever have a tree emergency, stop looking and call Mattie's LLC. You won't just get a great contractor; you'll get total peace of mind. This review is specifically for Ryan the man, not the LLC. It serves dual purpose, obviously, for both entities, but the man himself is what drove me to making this longer and more involved than any review I've ever written. Thanks again, Ryan. You're the best. Your talents and character are beyond what we could've hoped for in this situation. *EDIT* I forgot to mention. We had left for an hour while Ryan was cleaning up the limbs, branches, leaves, and logs. I fully expected to return home and having to rake and collect smaller branches, leaves, etc. I was really surprised when I returned home that the area was completely devoid of any evidence that a large tree was brought down. In fact, the pile of sticks/branches that I was creating long before this incident occured was gone. The yard is actually cleaner than it was before this happened.

His service was exceptional! He took down one tree in my backyard and he did it well with minimal disturbance to the yard. He let me help and he even taught my son how to use the chainsaw. Quality person and quality work!

We hired Mattie's Tree Service on recommendation from a neighbor to remove a very large, old tree from our property and couldn't be more pleased. I was out of town for the entire job, so I worked with Ryan remotely — he was responsive, clear, and easy to coordinate with from a distance. The tree came down cleanly, the site was left in great shape, and the price was fair for the scope of work. Highly recommend.

Ryan from Mattie's LLC with his wonderful employee Boris far exceeded all expectations throughout the entire tree removal process. Expert and respectful team: A crew that is not only highly skilled and certified but also courteous and professional from coming out on a Sunday but through the tree removal, stump grinding and then planting a replacement for our 40 year old weeping willow tree. They are transparent in their communication, answering any questions and addressing concerns with a reassuring demeanor.

The job was done completely in a very quick manor. Ryan called me back right away and we set a time to meet. He was there on time and quoted a fair and reasonable price. It was a lot of work for him cleaning up the mess the City made and he made it look easy. A excellent job!
