As a PLA (Professional Landscape Architect), I have been working with Jake Meltz (owner of FVL) for nearly four years. He has bid on, won, and installed numerous of my projects ranging from $12 - $800 K with percision and integrity. I have worked with the best landscapers in the area and consider Jake to be in the top 10%. He is a smaller company, but unlike other small companies, his attention to detail and humility set him apart. Although there are very few times I've seen an issue arise, he has been quick to respond, and many times, even when not his fault, I've witnessed him take responsibility and eat the cost just to help the customer... a true, Christian practitioner. I chose to write this response because a former client of Jake's decided to defame his character and spread lies about his work quality, integrity, and faith. This is a direct attack on a good person and is truly disgusting. I have reviewed the project and find NO fault in Fox Valley Landscaping. The project in question had an axillary building set at too low of a grade to handle a multi-year flood event. Although the garage would prove to be fine in most situations, during a 50+ year storm event, the neighborhood watershed dumps more water than the subdivision's engineering plan can handle. The result is that water encroaches on the garage. This issue is not on the landscaper, but the subdivision engineer and/or the building contractor, not Fox Valley Landscaping. This was professionally relayed to the client, yet he has chosen to defame Jake in both libel and slander. It is a shame that this person has taken a shot at a good man and a quality company. This says more about this person's integrity than it does about Jake. With this said, I want to professionally stand behind Jake Meltz and his Christ-based management of his company. He is a salt of the earth proprietor who wants to serve God through serving people. I believe in his business model and trust him to always do the right thing for his clients. Please do not hesitate to hire Fox Valley Landscaping. If you want any clarifications or would like to discuss my review, please feel free to contact me at Jeremy J. Kox Landscape Architecture, LLC. Jake and the crew just finished our new construction lawn, landscape and hardscape. Jake communicated throughout the process and quickly answered any questions or concerns that we had. Final product came out out great and have received many compliments!

I had a very overgrown yard and the made the removal and cleanup process a breeze before they fully graded and reseeded. You highly recommend them as the whole process was very easy.

Knowledgeable and professional folks that do the job you ask for and they explain what they are doing along the way and what to expect. Very friendly to work with. Easy to recommend them to others.

We really enjoyed working with Fox Valley Landscaping from start to finish. They helped us through the initial planning to better understand what was possible along with the minor details. Once the project started, they were professional, communicated any updates, and worked with us to make changes. We couldn't be happier with the finished product and are looking forward to using our patio for years to come.
